Region President, Dnipro (Ukraine)
Alexander joined DataArt in 2012 as the founding member of the team in Dnipro and has helped built the company’s newest office. He oversees DataArt’s interests in the region, champions R&D initiatives, facilitates academic research and fosters industry partnerships.
Alexander is a Professor of Informatics and Computer Sciences at the Department of Applied Mathematics of Dnipro National University (DNU). He has been a Consultant to the Ukrainian Ministry of Education since 1999, and Director of the Regional Center for High School and University Olympiads at DNU since 2009. He’s also a Scientific Advisor to the university’s ACM ICPC teams. In the 1990s, he has combined his academic and IT careers, working as the head of software development for several Dnipropetrovsk IT companies, including Intercomputer-Dnepr, Alt and Balance-Center.
Alexander received his Masters in Applied Mathematics from DNU in 1982 and a PhD from Kyiv Institute of Mathematics in 1988. He is the author of over forty publications on mathematics and informatics, and is a co-author of a patent in computer-aided system for experiments in medical psychology.
In 2001, he was awarded the title of Honorable Education Worker by the President of Ukraine.
